39 first grade assessment test

Hi. Sorry for posting so much. I just have lots of questions. I'm an elementary education major starting student teaching this upcoming March and I want to teach 3rd, 4th, or possibly 5th grade. All my classes say that we shouldn't grade students' work and we should just assess it, how does that work? Is that really done in reality? How can you get data without grading? I know admin will want to see data and assess ME based off that, but how can I provide that without grading? Also, how are we... I deserved it because i was unmotivated and a bit depressed starting school (see other post). It was on 11 chapters but i didn't read them until 2 days before the test. I finished outlining the last chapter an hour before class. Really dumb. Another dumb thing is that i changed my answers due to nerves and got those questions wrong. 10 points off because of that. Always trust your first instinct!! I also dont think i have the sense of logic that nursing is looking for. I overanalyze things...

If I score really really low, can I go below 8th grade? I am already having a hard time in 8th grade because of online class but I really want to get placed in 9th grade so I can be in high school. Is it possible to go below grade 8 if I score low enough? Help, I'm taking the test tomorrow and I am nervous as hell.
